Hello!
You are receiving this email because your child is currently registered for the 2025 lacrosse season. Here is an update and some information to help us get rolling for the first week.
The first day of practice is 2/24/25 and will take place at Gig Harbor HS on Turf Field #1 from 2:45 – 4:30 PM. Players should arrive with mouthguards, lacrosse sticks, goggles, clothes appropriate for activity and the weather, cleats, and a water bottle. There will also be some running as well so if players would prefer to bring running shoes for that, they are more than welcome to. If players have pinnies, please have them bring them – we are currently in the process of ordering some for the team!
I do want to share the schedule for the first full week of the season as this schedule is official – for the rest of the season, the district is still working to hopefully get us some earlier practices and I am hoping for the final word on that soon.
- Monday (2/24) -2:45 – 4:30 @ GHHS
- Tuesday (2/25) – 2:45 – 4:30 @ GHHS
- Wednesday (2/26) – 2:45 – 4:30 @ GHHS
- Thursday (2/27) – 2:45 – 4:00 @ GHHS*
- Friday (2/28) – 2:45 – 4:30 @ GHHS
*might be adjusted to an earlier/later release pending spring coaches meeting for the district on 4/27
With this email, I am attaching the schedule as what is currently shown on PSD Tandem/WSLA. Until we hear otherwise, we are going to move forward with what is on this calendar. Please keep in mind that practices may shift times and games may shift times, locations and even days. I appreciate your flexibility as we try to figure out the usage of fields.
At the bottom of the calendar, I am also attaching the locations for away games (as some of the field names are rather vague).
The most official place to locate game information would be going to the WSLA website (WSLA Website). To locate our schedules you will want to do the following:
Go to WSLA → Divisions → JV Peninsula/ Varsity Peninsula → PSD Riptides → Games
At this point we are registered for a varsity and provisional JV team (reduced season with five games) but will have a clear idea based on participation once the season starts on how many teams there will be so, with that being said, players should be prepared to treat the first couple of practices like a tryout. As I have done in the past years- I will give an outline of what those first couple of tryout days will look like in advance so they know what to expect.
A couple more housekeeping things:
- Please make sure that your player, although they are registered, are officially cleared with their school. If you have questions, you may check in with the athletic secretaries at each school (PHS – Angie, GHHS – Carly)
- Please make sure your player’s US lacrosse number is up to date. They need to have a current registration with US lacrosse in order to play. I will need their account numbers before the first game of the season. You check by going to the US lacrosse website: US LAX
- We are planning on doing a season player and parent meeting the first couple of weeks of the season – after finalizing schedules with ADS, we will get that time out ASAP
- A couple of our wonderful returning parents (Trulie Helgerson & Chad Scialabba) are taking the lead with creating a VPO and have also created a parent message too and I am sharing those links as well!
Thank you so much and I will keep you all posted once I continue to gain more information. I will be out of town during Mid-Winter Break because I am taking students to Washington, DC but I will do my best to check in when I can.
